Laser Liposuction
Laser Liposuction is the most current and technically advanced type of tumescent liposuction. At Thompson Dermatology, we prefer the use of tumescent liposuction due to the fact that it can give you the same liposuction results without the complicated and sometimes dangerous surgical procedure. This type of liposuction procedure only requires that the patient receives a local anesthetic and has a full recovery time of only a couple of days. On top of this, tumescent liposuction is safer, leaves less scares and is much less invasive. Here are the types of liposuction we give at Thompson Dermatology.
Smart Lipo
Smart Lipo is the latest and most advanced technology in the liposuction procedure. It offers a minimally invasive way to remove fat from specific parts of the body. It works by placing a small tube that contains a laser fiber under the skin and inside the fat area you wish to remove. The laser is directed at the fat cells which cause them to simply melt and drain away. Because the liposculpture procedure involves such small instruments, it causes less bleeding, swelling and is considerably more safe than other procedures.
Vaser Liposuction
Vaser liposuction is another type of liposuction procedure that is oriented toward removing fat from parts of your body. Through the use of ultrasonic energy and light, it breaks of compacted areas of fat without damaging surrounding tissue. It minimizes pain and swelling and is often a technique used in conjunction with Smart Lipo.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Are you tired of looking in the mirror and seeing someone who doesn't look vibrant and alive. Even if you have had a restful nights sleep you still have sagging bags of fat under your eyes that make you look permanently exhausted to those around you. Every single year, thousands of men and women decide to correct this with an eyelid surgery procedure called eyelid blepharoplasty. This is a safe and simple procedure that removes extra from the upper eyes as well as some of the fat sacs that tend to buildup under the eyes with age. The procedure is minimally invasive and can be performed with only a local anesthetic. As with any type of surgery, there is a recovery time that needs to be considered especially if you wear contact lenses. On average, the complete recovery time can be about one week. This procedure is left to heal naturally so that there is very little, if any scaring left over. The result of this cosmetic surgery is a youthful and soft look to their face. No longer will your sagging and tired looking eyes betray the youthful energy you might wish to convey.
Sclerotherapy/Spider Veins
Spider veins, also known as telangiectasia, are caused when veins near the skins surface become dilated due to increased blood pressure. They tend to appear on the face, legs and abdomen and can take on either a red of blue color. Spider veins can be caused by prolonged periods of sitting and standing, obesity, pregnancy, heredity or some birth control pills. Though they are not a usually a sign of poor health, spider veins in legs or the face can be unsightly and make someone appear ill. Fortunately there is a treatment for spider veins that can remove them safely and without pain. Spider vein sclerotherapy is a type of spider vein laser treatment that can completely remove the appearance of spider veins. It works by giving the patient a medical injection that hardens the veins walls and shuts it down. A surface laser then dissolves the remaining vein causing it to dissolve over time. The procedure can be painful, but the discomfort will only last a couple of minutes.
Stretch Mark Treatments
Also known as striae, stretch marks appear as either purple, red or white lines on the surface of the sin. They can be a result of rapid periods of skin stretching or some extreme hormonal changes. They are most commonly associated with pregnancy, puberty or after weight loss. During these time the connective fibers in your skin get damaged, the skin looses its elasticity and the middle layer of the skin becomes scarred, causing stretch marks. Fortunately there are many different types of stretch mark removal procedures available.
Laser Treatment
At Thompson Dermatology, we are able to offer our patients with two different types of cosmetic surgery for stretch marks with two different types of lasers. The V Beam laser can be used to removed red stretch marks while the Fraxel laser is able to to deal with the brown and white ones. Both types of treatments can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour and are completely safe. They can provide up to 95% improvement and reduce the appearance of unsightly stretch marks.
Alternative treatment
If you don't wish to partake in laser treatment, or don't find it satisfactory there are a few other treatments that might be explored. One way to go about alternative treatments is finding the best stretch mark cream such as mederma that can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks without the use of lasers.
